The AGS annual meeting 2007
Two decades have passed since the Brundtland report on our common future was published and we are now starting to develop the knowledge and tools to allow us to project sustainable pathways into our future.
Who can attend?
The AGS annual meeting is a conference on pathways to sustainable development open for industry representatives, politicians, researchers, students, NGO representatives and interested public. Representatives from this variety of stakeholder groups and interest groups form the basis for discussions during the conference.
Why attend?
We hope that this meeting will contribute to raising awareness and creating values for our common future. Together, we can develop pathways as an underlying concept for sustainability science that will aid the choices in and adaptability of social and technical systems for our near-term future. It is our ambition to facilitate the exchange of thoughts and ideas between faculty, industry representatives, decision- makers and the public, through open forum activities and panel debates.
The Alliance for Global Sustainability
Created in 1997, The AGS today brings together university scientists, engineers, and social scientists to address the complex issues that lie at the intersection of environmental, economic and social goals. The AGS is advancing the scientific understanding of global environmental challenges, development of technology and policy tools to help societies reconcile ecological and economic concerns and by educating a new generation of leaders committed to meet the challenges of sustainable development. Two large-scale research programs have recently been initiated, one in the energy area and one within food and water, which respectively look to a sustainable energy future and a nourished world.
